Lumbar Spine Surgeries

Minimally invasive surgical techniques can be used to reduce or relieve lumbar back pain allowing the patient a speedier recovery time and less scarring.

Anterior Fusion

Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) is a spine surgery that involves approaching the spine from the front of the body to remove disc or bone material from in between two adjacent lumbar vertebrae. The procedure may be performed either as an open surgery or using minimally invasive techniques.

METRx Microdiscectomy

A minimally invasive discectomy is an operation that involves using either endoscopic or microscopic techniques to access and treat a disc in the spine.

METRx Minimally Invasive Hemilaminectomy

A hemilaminectomy is a spine surgery that involves removing one of the two laiminae on a vertebra to relieve excess pressure on the spinal nerve(s) in the spine.

METRx Synovial Cyst Removal

This minimally invasive surgery is used to relieve pressure on or pinching of a nerve root as it exits the spinal canal through the space between two vertebrae. The operation enlarges this space, called the foramen.

METRx Tumor Removal

A minimally invasive tumor removal may be done using the METRx system depending on the size and location of the spinal tumor.

Open Laminectomy

Laminectomy is an operation that involves removing a portion of the bone over and/or around the nerve roots to give them additional space.

Open Tumor Resection

The primary goals in tumor resection surgery are to reduce pain caused by the spinal tumor, restore or preserve neurologic function and provide spinal stability.

Posterior Fusion

While fusing two vertebrae together may limit bending and twisting of the trunk, many patients feel an improvement in range of motion because their pain has been reduced.

Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF)

Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty

These procedures provide new options for compression fractures and are designed to relieve pain, reduce and stabilize fractures, and reduce spinal deformity.
