Neurosurgeon Jonathan Citow has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time.

The recipient of the second highest score in the country on his neurosurgical board exam and author of five textbooks, Dr. Citow proves himself as a reliable source for others studying to be neurosurgeons.

His first book, Comprehensive Neurosurgery Board Review, is mandatory reading for all neurosurgery residents in the United States. It also has received worldwide attention from countries such as Russia, Iran and Canada, and has been translated into many different languages.

His other books include Comprehensive Neurosurgery Board Review, Neuropathology and Neuroradiology, Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology, Neurosurgery Oral Board Review and Neurosurgery Board Review: Questions and Answers for Self-Assessment.

Thieme Publishers of new York has published all of Dr. Citow's books.

Dr. Citow is an inventor as well as a writer. He has designed several surgical instruments, including a device to allow better visualization of the cervical spine during intraoperative radiography and an intraoperative nerve monitoring set, both of which will be patented and out on the market later this year. He also worked with Medtronic Sofamor Danek to devise a lumbar transforaminal interbody fusion retractor, and he is currentyly working with the same company to design other tools for minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures.

In regard to patient care Dr. Citow says he tries to be exceptionally approachable and competent, making sure patients understand that he is available for them and willing to answer all of their neurosurgeons and doctors in general need to continue to learn and develop new techniques. He prides himself on staying up-to-date on the newest medical innovations.

Dr. Citow regularly performs minimally invasive brain surgeries at Condell medical Center, using the Brainlab system and Vector Vision. He also performs surgery to treat  tumors, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations, trigeminal neuralgia, seizure disorder, epilepsy, cervical thoracic and lumbar stenosis, herniated discs, carpal tunnel syndrome, and ulnar neuropathy.

Dr. Citow maintains an independent neurosurgery practice with neurosurgeon Egon Doppenberg, MD.
